You really don't want to get me started on abortion rights! I know your presentation/paper isn't really about that, but still...it's an issue that I'm passionate about.

You have some fascinating classes. My classes are Information Technology and Human Information Behavior. I will blog about them at a later date and time.

Thanks Aravis - that is reassuring (about the girl being the main focus, I mean, not the nun's order!)

Having said that, she sounds like a brave nun!

Also, Red, the nun is a member of The Sisters of Mercy, from the Saint Joseph Parrish in Arizona or something. Since you asked. (The nun's case was "ripped from the headlines," and really happened) ;)

Actually Red, I'm with you. Mary (the girl) needs to be the main focus. In class it was implied that the father agreed with the bishop, the daughter with the nun. The issue, and their responses to it, are important only inasmuch as they reflect the underlying beliefs, thoughts, and relationship b/t father and daughter. It would be easy to get caught up in the debate between nun and bishop, but that isn't what I, as a school psychologist, should be focusing on.

Knowledge of physical, mental, and moral development should be displayed. Neurobiology, family dynamics, religious beliefs, canonical and federal laws, etc. should be factored in

If you're going to factor all that lot in, surely the person who writes the exam questions might have bothered to mention what position the 16 year old took and what position her father took. I mean, I might guess right about who thought what. But I might not.

If you don't know who took which position, wouldn't it be better to disregard all the extraneous detail (do we really care about the nun's relationship with her own church? why not tell us how long she's been a nun and what particular order if you're going detail-crazy? what are the names of the four other kids?) and deal with how you help kids who have big disagreements with their dads.

Hmm. It is probably just as well it's not me studying psychology. :-)

Whoosh! I'm exhausted just reading about your semester! It does sound fascinating though. Good luck with the group work!

...and to think such a great reward awaits you at the end! "Finish strong." :)

I'm also ready for my class to be over. And mine are only 8 weeks long. I need an attitude adjustment in the worst way....I'm just not motivated to do anything!

Good luck!

Carla- it really is interesting. I just wish it didn't involve getting together with 6 other women with vastly different schedules! I'll let you know how it pans out.

Jandy, you're absolutely right. September 5th is National Cheese Pizza day. Obviously I'm already fried! *LOL*

Ahem, November 5th is a Friday. Is National Cheese Pizza Day the 5th or the 7th? Or is it Sunday, September 5th?

Inquiring minds want to know.
